EDP and Meta: PPA for Cypress Knee Solar, a 250 megawatt solar project in Arkansas

Meta and EDP, through EDP Renewables North America, today announced a long-term power purchase agreement for Cypress Knee Solar, a 250 megawatt project to be built in Arkansas. The agreement supports Meta’s efforts to add new generation capacity to the grid, continuing its commitment to match 100% of its annual electricity consumption with clean and renewable energy.

Cypress Knee Solar represents the third renewable energy agreement signed between Meta and EDPR North America. The total energy contracted between the two companies has now reached 545 MW, strengthening a long-standing collaboration that continues to expand renewable energy infrastructure across the United States.

“Our collaboration with Meta demonstrates how long-term partnerships are essential to accelerating the energy transition at scale,” said Miguel Stilwell d’Andrade, Global CEO of EDP. “Projects like Cypress Knee Solar go beyond increasing renewable capacity: they strengthen grid resilience and support the growing electrification of the digital economy, while delivering reliable and clean energy solutions that create lasting value for our partners and for the broader energy system.”

“Through our partnership with EDPR, Cypress Knee Solar will bring new energy to Arkansas’ electric grid, create local jobs, and deliver economic benefits to the community. We are proud to expand our collaboration with EDPR,” said Amanda Yang, Head of Clean and Renewable Energy at Meta.

Cypress Knee Solar is expected to generate long-term economic value for communities in Arkansas. Once operational, the project will contribute to funding essential public services and improving infrastructure. During the construction phase, the project is expected to create several hundred jobs. Completion of Cypress Knee Solar is scheduled for 2028.
