INPOW Debuts at Intersolar Europe 2026 with Automotive-Grade Energy Storage Solutions and European Expansion Plans

INPOW Battery has entered the European market with its first appearance at Intersolar Europe 2026, introducing a new generation of automotive-grade battery energy storage system solutions. The company unveiled what it says is the world's first mass-produced 587Ah semi-solid-state storage cell alongside a 6.25MWh liquid-cooled BESS, while confirming plans to establish a European sales and technical service centre later this year.

Munich, Germany, 25 June 2026 – INPOW Battery, the battery subsidiary wholly owned by GAC Group, today made its European debut at Intersolar Europe 2026, unveiling what the company describes as the world’s first mass-produced 587Ah semi-solid-state battery cell for energy storage together with a 6.25MWh liquid-cooled battery energy storage system (BESS). INPOW also announced plans to establish a European Sales and Technical Service Centre later this year, reinforcing its long-term commitment to the European market.

The launch marks an important milestone in the company’s international expansion strategy and reflects a broader ambition to bring automotive-grade battery engineering to the rapidly growing energy storage sector.

Bringing automotive-grade engineering to stationary energy storage

As battery energy storage projects continue to increase in size and complexity, safety, reliability and lifecycle performance are becoming as important as energy density and cost.

Unlike many energy storage suppliers that originated as battery manufacturers, INPOW builds on GAC Group’s automotive engineering heritage. Supported by more than 15 years of battery research, over RMB 2 billion in cumulative R&D investment, a team of 800+ R&D engineers, and 700+ granted patents, the company has developed fully integrated capabilities spanning battery materials, cell chemistry, battery management systems, intelligent manufacturing and system integration.

Drawing on technologies originally developed for electric vehicles, INPOW applies automotive-grade validation standards and manufacturing processes to its stationary energy storage products. The company believes that transferring engineering experience from demanding vehicle applications to grid-scale storage can help address one of the industry’s most pressing challenges—improving battery safety without compromising commercial scalability.

A practical pathway towards safer battery technology

While fully solid-state batteries are widely regarded as the long-term direction of battery development, large-scale commercial deployment continues to face challenges related to materials, manufacturing complexity and cost.

INPOW believes semi-solid-state technology offers a practical pathway towards significantly improving battery safety while remaining compatible with today’s manufacturing infrastructure.

At the centre of the company’s launch is its new 587Ah semi-solid-state energy storage cell, designed specifically for utility-scale energy storage applications. According to INPOW, it is the world’s first commercially mass-produced semi-solid-state battery cell in the 587Ah class.

The battery incorporates a hybrid oxide-polymer electrolyte architecture that reduces the amount of free liquid electrolyte to less than 0.01%, enabling intrinsic safety characteristics approaching those expected from fully solid-state battery technologies while maintaining the cost advantages of large-scale lithium-ion manufacturing.

To demonstrate its safety performance, the company subjected the cell to a series of abuse tests beyond conventional certification requirements, including high-pressure crush tests, mechanical cutting, prolonged high-temperature exposure and direct flame testing. According to INPOW, the battery remained stable without thermal runaway even under these extreme conditions, demonstrating a design intended to minimise the risk of thermal propagation within large-scale storage systems.

Designed for the next generation of utility-scale storage

Building on the new battery platform, INPOW also introduced its flagship 6.25MWh liquid-cooled Battery Energy Storage System, designed for long-duration energy storage, renewable energy integration and grid balancing applications.

The system combines liquid cooling, multi-layer safety protection and cloud-based intelligent monitoring into a single platform. According to the company, cabinet-level energy density has been increased by 24%, while its proprietary AI-powered monitoring platform can identify potential operational risks up to 20 days in advance and provide early warning of thermal runaway events up to 24 hours before occurrence, helping reduce lifecycle operation and maintenance costs by more than 30%.

Strengthening INPOW’s European presence

As part of its localisation strategy, INPOW confirmed that it will establish a European Sales and Technical Service Centre in October 2026. The new organisation will provide local engineering support, system design, commissioning, after-sales service and spare parts supply, enabling closer collaboration with customers throughout the entire project lifecycle.

“Europe is one of the world’s most dynamic energy storage markets and a strategic priority for our international development,” said Junhai Xu, President of INPOW Battery. “Our ambition extends beyond supplying products. We are building a long-term local presence by combining advanced battery technology with responsive engineering support and customer service tailored to the European market.”
