ABB’s LV Titanium platform merges motor and drive in a new plug-and-play solution
ABB has launched its new LV Titanium platform, a plug-and-play solution that combines a high-efficiency motor and a variable speed drive into one compact, customizable unit. Designed to reduce energy use, lower carbon emissions, and save costs, the ABB LV Titanium platform offers IE5 Ultra-Premium efficiency for pumps, compressors, and a wide range of industrial applications.
Replacing traditional direct-on-line induction motors, the LV Titanium variable speed motor offers a seamless upgrade path with rapid return on investment. It provides a simple and cost-effective way to bring IE5 Ultra-Premium performance to existing systems.
Unlike conventional motor-drive assemblies, LV Titanium has been engineered from the ground up as a fully integrated concept. Its advanced drive module was specifically designed to work optimally with a high-efficiency permanent magnet motor. With the drive mounted at the end of the motor, the sleek and compact design saves space, making it ideal for vertical pump applications. It also delivers exceptionally quiet operation.
One of the key advantages of the LV Titanium platform is its ability to operate across a wide range of speed and torque requirements, including high torque at low speeds.

Thanks to its plug-and-play capability, the LV Titanium motor requires no commissioning. The motor and integrated drive are pre-configured and optimized to operate together before leaving the factory. This eliminates the need for external cabinets, electrical rooms, or specially trained personnel, simplifying and speeding up installation.
The system features an intuitive control panel, customizable analog and digital I/O, and a basic integrated PLC. Connectivity includes Modbus RTU communication protocol for easy integration with PLCs and other control devices.
With its compact form factor and high power density, the LV Titanium motor is at least two frame sizes smaller than comparable induction motors. This makes it an ideal replacement solution where space is tight, especially for retrofitting outdated and inefficient motors.
Currently available in smaller sizes starting from 1.5 kW, the LV Titanium platform will soon expand to cover applications up to 30 kW, supporting a wide range of industries, from water treatment and chemical processing to food and beverage. The platform is fully customizable to meet specific customer needs.
