The Verge TS Pro electric motorcycle and its solid-state revolution
The electrification of motorcycles differs from electric cars, which in turn differs from trucks. In essence, the energy transition travels on different tracks and speeds depending on the mode of transport. From Finland comes the pioneering attempt by startup Donut Lab, which has decided to get ahead of the curve by introducing what it calls the first solid-state battery for mass production in battery-powered motorcycles. The chosen two-wheeler is the Verge TS Pro, a motorcycle with a futuristic design characterized by a hubless rear wheel.
Solid-state batteries: goodbye to charging anxiety?
Unlike lithium-ion batteries, the Donut Lab cell utilizes a solid material that promises an energy density of 400 Wh/kg. And this is where the real difference lies: battery charging times, going from 10% to 80% in just 12 minutes. A record that brings this mode closer to a full tank of fuel, although the Finnish company Donut Lab specifies that “the test was conducted using a previous generation motorcycle, equipped with a new generation battery pack” with a nominal capacity of 18 kWh.
Verge TS Pro electric motorcycle: record-breaking figures
The Verge TS Pro offers approximately 300 km of range in just 10 minutes, with guaranteed operation from -30°C to +100°C, solving the problem of performance drop during harsh Nordic winters or under extreme thermal stress. The startup declares a lifespan of up to 100,000 cycles, making the battery virtually eternal compared to the useful life of the motorcycle itself.
The Donut 2.0 motor
The electric TS Pro 2026 adopts the evolution of the rim-integrated motor, the Donut 2.0. Grandly unveiled at CES Las Vegas in 2025, it is a toroidal-shaped electric motor, aptly named “donut.” Thanks to a design that eliminates hubs and drive chains, the system reduces mechanical losses. With a torque of 1,000 Nm, the motorcycle offers superbike performance, going from 0 to 100 in 3.5 seconds, with a 600 km range.

Solid-state batteries are considered safer than traditional lithium-ion batteries because they do not ignite, regardless of operating temperature. “Donut Lab’s new generation solid-state battery technology is the result of years of development work. At this point, we are ready to introduce an exceptional technology into the electric mobility market, of which Verge is a prime example. And this is just the beginning: our battery technology can be used in all types of vehicles, from motorcycles to cars, trucks, robotics, and stationary energy storage,” stated Ville Piippo, CTO of Donut Lab.
